Ashlar is an embroidery that combines the rustic charm of early English crewelwork with the colourful richness of antique Persian textiles. A host of charming butterflies and insects hide amongst the stylized flower heads of this bold tree of life. The stitch work adds dimension and texture whilst innovative colour combinations reflect some of the sumptuous colour choices within the collection. A striking deep red ground sets off teal blues, rose and copper; a pale cream ground enhances coral pinks and silver and pewter; a neutral ground suits more subtle petrol blues and a charming multi-coloured way captures the spirit of this lively design.
